In-TAC 2nd Virtual Career Expo Concluded with Great Success

In-TAC Pre-Arrival Services hosted our second Virtual Career Expo from March 23 to 25, 2017. Jointly organized by OCCSC’s In-TAC, Immigrant Services Calgary, and Immigrant Services Society of BC, the Expo connected Canadian employers with international talent from over 60 countries, including China, India, the Philippines, Singapore, Israel, and South Africa. The turnout rate far exceeded that of the last expo, with 1,500 global talents participating, and 35 employers from across Canada looking to fill vacancies.

The Honourable Laura Albanese, Ontario Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson, Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi, and Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson showed their support by sending us greeting messages recognizing In-TAC’s efforts in helping immigrants integrate into Canadian society.

The state-of-the-art online recruitment platform connected employers and international job seekers in real time, allowing them to network despite the geographical distances. Job seekers were also able to gain the latest Canadian labour market information from sector councils such as ICTC and CPA.

In-TAC created a special preparation session for our registered clients prior to the event. Thanks to that session, a job seeker from China said, “I stayed up till 2:00am last night talking to a representative from one of my targeted companies in Canada to my heart’s content.”

Immigrant, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) hosted a booth at the Expo, with IRCC officers in Hong Kong, Beijing, and Shanghai on hand to answer immigration-related questions from our participants in real time. “I am grateful for the chance to reach out and support the clients,” said IRCC representative Rennie Soobrattee. Immigrants were impressed by the rare opportunity to raise questions directly with the IRCC officers. As a client put it, “I never imagined I would get a chance to directly talk to any immigration officers. I really appreciate In-TAC for organizing this event.”

In-TAC would like to thank everyone for making our 2nd virtual career expo such a success! Special thanks to all of our exhibitors who worked tirelessly interviewing, answering questions, and networking with motivated job seekers from overseas.
